Vintage Rose Wedding Photography I first met Rosa & Juan a few months ago when I photographed their engagement session in the Orange Circle. I was so honored to be invited to photograph their beautiful wedding at The Vintage Rose in Orange, CA.

Their wedding ceremony was so romantic with dim lighting and chandeliers. And the reception was filled with sweet moments and lots of fun dancing throughout the night.

Summit House Wedding | Thomas and Wendy

We first met Thomas at our office in Pasadena. He was so kind and easy to talk to, and we truly enjoyed his company. We didn’t get to meet Wendy until the wedding day, but  within the first few minutes of meeting her we found out how awesome she is! She is super sweet and has a wonderful sense of humor- which is fantastic because she has the most adorable laugh. I’m sure those are just a few of the things Thomas loves about her. Wendy and Thomas held their wedding at the Summit House in Fullerton. The grounds at the Summit House are so beautiful and made for lovely backdrops for their wedding photos throughout the day!

As you will see below, their bridal party was soooo fun and full of personality!!! This made for some really good times throughout the afternoon.

Victorian Santa Monica Wedding Photography

Elise & Ariel's Wedding We first met Elise at the Wedding Salon bridal show at the SLS hotel about a year and a half ago. Elise and Ariel had only been engaged for about 2 weeks at the time!

Elise and Ariel met in film school. The instructor was giving a 3 point lighting demonstration, and Elise agreed to be the model. She definitely caught Ariel's eye as he listened with added attention.  Such an adorable "meet cute" for  film school sweethearts. I just love to hear them tell this story!

We attend many many weddings a year, and some are beautiful, some are simple, some are romantic- but our favorite weddings are those like Elise and Ariel's that are filled with genuine meaning, love, and a personality that is truly their own.  It was really important to them that all of their family and friends be in the moment with them during the ceremony. So they decided to have an "unplugged" ceremony and asked their guests not to be distracted by recording but to take in this moment with their hearts and minds. Without their recording devices, their guests were actively engaged in the ceremony which resulted in much more attention, smiles, laughter, and celebration than most other ceremonies.  It was such an extreme honor to be the ones documenting this important occasion for them. Thank you Elise and Ariel for this privilege.

The wedding was held at The Victorian in Santa Monica and as the ladies got ready upstairs the guys got ready in the "speakeasy" downstairs. Their ceremony was held outside in front of a beautiful museum building  and a hand-made multi-color heart display as a backdrop- the hearts even had googly eyes! The ceremony included not only lovely moments with family and friends but also a special visit from an adorable sock puppet named Aloysius.

So many special moments and details filled the day - below is a snippet of the getting ready, ceremony, and portraits.

Elise and Ariel, we can't thank you enough for inviting us to photograph your wedding day for you. We have truly enjoyed getting to know both of you over the past year, and we look forward to seeing you both again very soon! Faina and Alex were married at the scenic Malibou Lake Club. We started off the day with the girls and guys getting ready, and some of our favorite moments were when they read the notes each had written for the other to read on the wedding day. After everyone was all dolled up, it was time for the first "look". Faina & Alex didn't actually want to see each other before the ceremony, so it was quite a bit of fun photographing them together and with the entire bridal party without letting them catch a glimpse of each other.

The ceremony was filled with lots of love and laughter- just the way we like it! Following the ceremony, we got to sneak away with them for a bit to take some lovely photos out by the lake before they headed into the fun filled cocktail hour and reception.

Upland Hills Country Club Wedding Photography

Vanessa & Fermin's Wedding We first met Vanessa and Fermin when Vanessa was a bridesmaid in her brother John's wedding 4 years ago.  Vanessa and Fermin are one of the most kind hearted and genuine couples we have met. Their love for each other and their amazing children (Steven, Katie, and Connor) is nothing short of inspiring.

When we heard Vanessa and Fermin were engaged, we were soooooo excited for them!!!!  We admire them greatly and hope to have a family just as beautiful as theirs someday.

Vanessa & Fermin were married in a beautiful and meaningful ceremony at their family parish Sacred Heart Catholic Church. We loved the sweet glances they exchanged with each other during the ceremony. And we almost cried seeing how overcome with joy and emotion Katie was as Vanessa walked down the aisle with Steven toward Fermin. LOVE was truly all around.

After the ceremony, the celebration continued with a fabulous reception filled with bling and candlelight at the Upland Hills Country Club. There were so many beautiful moments that we couldn't fit them all into one post, so below is  a preview of the first half of their day.

Bella Collina Wedding San Clemente | Wedding Photography

Kristin & Greg's Wedding When I first spoke to Kristin on the phone about a year ago, I knew we would get along splendidly. When Rob and I met Kristin, Greg, and their lovely mothers at their wedding coordinating round table meeting in April we saw the love they both had for each other and their families, and we couldn't wait for their wedding!

Nixon Library Yorba Linda Wedding Photography

I absolutely love Nixon Library weddings! Robert and I even looked into the Nixon Library for our wedding during our venue search back in 2006. So I always have a special place in my heart for these weddings. I was so grateful and excited when friend and colleague Michael Fletcher invited me to document Erica and Jamie's wedding with him. Villa San Juan Capistrano Wedding Photography - Sweet and Saucy

We recently attended the ABC OC event at the Villa San Juan Capistrano to network with the area's biggest wedding professionals. We had a great time, and it was wonderful to be surrounded by amazing talent who strive to do nothing but the best! Brides checking out venues should definitely consider The Villa if they want a quaint and intimate venue with an outdoor reception and great potential for some artistic Villa San Juan Capistrano wedding photography. The space was really is perfect for a outdoor ceremony and reception. What was really neat about the venue was that it was about 60 degrees that evening but because of the strategically placed outdoor heaters, the whole area was warm- no sweaters necessary! The venue has the feel of a spanish house, and because of the tall walls covered with lush green ivy you have that sense of intimacy with organic and rustic flair. My favorite part of the evening was that Sweet and Saucy were there with a plethora of desserts. Check out our photos below.

Firesky Resort Wedding Photography Scottsdale

We're so happy and proud that this is our first wedding on our brand new blog. But as much as a milestone as it is for us, it's even bigger that we announce Alice and Ben's marriage to the world! Their wedding was a amazing two day event.  As Ben's mother said to me, "Ben and Alice are now married in the eye's of God, in the eye's of the law, and in the tradition of the Chinese Culture."  There's no getting out of it now guys! LOL :)  But seriously, we couldn't be happier for the two of you, and we can't wait for many more visits to Arizona and celebrating more special moments with you and your families. Below is just a sneak preview of their Catholic Church Ceremony at St Bernard's Church, their American Wedding Reception at Firesky Resort, their Chinese Tea Ceremony, and their Chinese Wedding Reception at the Great Wall Banquet. Phew!  That's a lot of celebrating!  But Alice and Ben totally deserved every moment of it, every toast, and every well wish.  We are so honored to have been invited to be a part of it all. The Bridal Party

There wasn't a shortage of candid happy moments either. 

This was one of my favorite moments of the getting ready. I had gone down the hall to check in with Ben and the guys and all of the sudden I hear shouting coming from down the hall.  I ran back to the girls room, and I heard the ladies cheering to the world "ALICE IS GETTING MARRIED!"  Such a sweet moment.

They even had a grand ceremony exit with BUBBLES.

If we said to people Sonic the Hedgehog battled a giant banana you think people would believe us?  No we weren't high. It happened.

Finding the Perfect Wedding Dress

How to Find "The" Dress | Trying on Gowns

When you're dress hunting, it's good to bring photos of the types of dresses you are looking for, so that your bridal stylist can get an idea of the look you are going for. But be open minded and don't be afraid to try dresses that are different. You might surprise yourself and find an amazing dress!

Bring shoes that are about the same height as the shoes you plan on wearing for your wedding day.  If you already have your wedding shoes, even better! Bring those.

If the gown doesn't fit you just right, make sure to get an estimate on the cost for alterations so that you can factor that into the total cost of the gown.

A few questions to ask yourself with each gown you try on:

1) Am I comfortable?  Most brides will only wear one gown on their wedding day. You need to be comfortable enough in it to get through photos, the ceremony, dinner, and dancing.  If the dress is too heavy it might be hard to stand, walk, or dance in while wearing heels. If the train is very long, get a quote on getting it bustled, so that you can dance in it throughout the night.

      If the dress is A-mazing, but you know you won't be able to dance and party in it all night, consider getting a simpler yet elegant gown or party dress to change into for your reception.

2) Do I look gorgeous? One of the most important things in selecting a wedding gown is that you feel gorgeous! Feeling gorgeous in your gown radiates in your smile, your emotions, and your expressions. This translates into a stunning bride and beautiful photographs.

How do you know if you've found the one? Well, if you have the dress on and you can't stop smiling....that's usually the one.

Los Verdes Golf Club | Wedding Photography | Palos Verdes, CA

The Jessica Elizabeth team had the honor of documenting May and Florin's wedding at the Los Verdes Golf Club. 

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, family and friends joined from all sides of the world in Palos Verdes to be together for May and Florin's wedding. May grew up in Southern California, but eventually settled down in the Bay Area, where she met her sweetheart, Florin. And the rest is history.  For the wedding, she couldn't resist the beautiful weather SoCal has to offer, and neither could Florin. Below, is a preview of their wedding ceremony. The Processional

Its so awesome that the officiant of the ceremony is an old friend. He told some great funny stories.  

One of the stories he shared was May's love for the series Twilight. She loves Twilight so much that Robert Pattinson made a surprise guest appearance!

The bride and groom have a very goofy and rambunctious side to them. Their happiness is so infectious that we couldn't help but laugh and smile while editing these photos. 

Florin's mother read a beautiful poem by a Romanian poet. 

May and Florin exchanging their vows.

 "I promise to love you, in my own way." 

May had four gorgeous bridesmaids.

And Florin had five handsome groomsmen. 

As part of the ceremony, Florin and May joined hands, and the officiant asked for Florin's hand on top. "Remember and cherish this moment because this is the last time you will have the upper hand."

We love, love, LOVE this photograph.

Santa Monica Pier Engagement Photography | Santa Monica CA

To kick off the unofficial start to summer, here are photographs from Alice and Ben's engagement session. We took them to Santa Monica Pier for a little bit of beachy fun and headed over to the promenade thereafter. As you browse through, you might think "What? No carnie pics?" No, these guys are too cool for that. Instead, we took our party underneath! Our own adventure was destined to be atop on the risers. In our opinion, this was definitely better than a ride around the ferris wheel. And for your information... No animals or clients were hurt in the making of this production. Enjoy the memories!

Aquarium of the Pacific Wedding Photography Long Beach CA

A few years ago Robert and I co-hosted a New Year's Eve party with my sister Michelle and her husband Mark. Mark's brothers Pete and Erik were in town, and they joined us for the party. Erik spent most of the night carrying around an enormous foot tall champagne glass. LOL. Apparently this caught my sister Tina's attention and shortly after the party they started dating.Dating wasn't always easy for Tina and Erik as Erik in the Air Force. Over the past few years Tina has gone to visit him in Louisiana and Texas and Erik has come to visit her in CA. I'm sure the visits always seemed too short and the times he was away seemed too long. Through Skype, over the phone movie dates, and Facebook they made it work. And on May 11th, another Tincopa sister married another Boets brother.

Orange CA | Wedding | Photography

Robert and I like to keep our skills sharp by attending photoshoots and workshops to learn from other photographers, practice new techniques, and keep up with current trends in the photography industry.  A few weeks ago we had the honor of leading the SoCal Photog Shootout for the Three Year Anniversary event!

Last summer we had the honor in participating in a wedding vendor challenge for Best Wedding Sites.  The challenge was to create and style a Bridal Shower using the colors Yellow and Blue. 

The team consisted of Miriam of Miriam Corona Events, Samantha of Paper Mints, florals and linens from Cristina of Posh Peony Event Design, and the adorable sweets from Eileen at Cucamonga Cakery. Our team had tons of fun running with the challenge and our design even made the cover of the September Issue of Best Wedding Sites Magazine. 

Since I know many of our brides are currently working on the themes and floral designs for their summer weddings, I thought we would post a little inspiration on this beautiful summer like day in February here in SoCal. This post may also be helpful to all you MOHs (Maid of Honors) out there looking for inspiration for that Bridal Shower you will be hosting soon.

San Juan Capistrano Photography | Aaron & Teri's Valentine's Session

Cupid works his magic 365 days of the year. About 15 months ago, Cupid's arrow struck Aaron and Teri. They met while studying at CSU Fullerton and ever since then, their adoration for each other grow with each day. They're really cute - a month ago they decided to start a wine blog called, "The Vino Duo", where both of them write articles on the wines that they try together. When Aaron contacted us, he explained that he was so averse to taking photos that he and Teri didn't have any of each other. This photo session was to be a surprise for her this Valentine's Day. We met up with them this past weekend in beautiful San Juan Capistrano. If there was any sign of nervousness from either of them, it definitely wasn't apparent. Aaron and Teri, we hope you love the photos! Now we're wondering how you will top this one next year Aaron - a different kind of session perhaps...?

Pete & Erika's Woodson Castle Wedding

If you look back to one of our earlier posts, we blogged about a sailor and his mate. We first met Pete when my sister Michelle started dating Pete's brother Mark.  Shortly thereafter, my sister Christina started dating Pete's brother Erik.  When we first met Erika, she asked Pete if he was sure he wouldn't prefer to date one of my remaining 4 sisters (aka those sisters not already married to one of Pete's brothers.) As you can see Erika has a pretty awesome sense of humor and a wonderful personality.  Erika is super sweet and down to earth.  She is also one gorgeous woman!  I'm sure Pete would agree ;)

Pete is the classically handsome Navy Sailor.  He's a fun loving guy with an equally great personality.  And lucky for Erika, Pete had absolutely no interest in dating any of my sisters. LOL.

Pete and Erika were married at the enchanting Mt. Woodson Castle in Ramona, CA. I must say Rob and I were a little jealous of the wedding venue as we both had dreamed of getting married at a castle.  Fortunately, we had the honor of being a part of Pete & Erika's dream wedding day.

Carrie & Mark were married aboard the "Eternity" in Newport Beach.  Although the forecast had called for a chance of rain earlier in the week, the weather was beautiful and the sky amazing!

Carrie's Gorgeous Wedding Gown

Carrie is the 14th grandchild, so she was given this beautiful handkerchief by her grandparents embroidered with a special message and the #14.  The ring pillow below the handkerchief was sewn by Carrie's mother and made from both of her grandmother's wedding dresses. So sweet and touching.

Carrie's mother lit the candle for the Curtis family and Mark's mother lit the candle for the Fitzpatrick family. Then Carrie and Mark lit the Unity Candle together.
