A few weeks ago one of our neighbors was kind enough to bring us an Easter Basket with some fruits and veggies from her yard. Rob and I went to her door to thank her (from a distance), and I told her that I was soooo excited about the lemon that was in the basket because lemons was something that had been canceled from my precious several grocery orders since certain fruits, veggies, and herbs are difficult to find during these times. She kindly invited us to pick some lemons off her tree out back so I could make some lemonade 🍋 As Rob and I were in the yard, we noticed a beautiful art installation in the middle of the garden of fruit trees. Our neighbor (@deniseweyhrich ) is a Fine Artist and created this powerful art piece which she calls “Casting Crowns”. The art installation is comprised of multiple parts: 1) The Golden Antenna 2) Two Rings of Unity 3) A Red Pitchfork down into the ground 4) a pair of earbuds and 5) daily Covid newspaper articles from around the U.S. She has asked people to send her pages of their local daily newspapers with the Covid Statistics. She then takes those articles and folds them into paper airplanes. Each paper airplane is flown with a prayer toward the Golden Antenna. It as like sending a prayer to the lord via his heavenly Golden Antenna and with the pair of ear buds just in case he needs to hear the prayers more closely. @rob_tran photographed this art installation for Denise one evening at Sunset. And as the paper airplanes were thrown, one of them landed near the antenna, with the words “Rays of Hope” as the sun shined over the fence and onto the installation. This installation is a message of hope and healing prayer to all. And a message of unity that we are all in this together. Thank you Denise for creating this beautiful work of art and for sharing it with Robert and I and with the world. 🌎

Today is National Bereaved Mother’s Day. It is a day for us to honor and recognize all mothers who have experienced the loss one or more children, struggled to conceive a child, or are unable to get pregnant at all. I see you, I hear you, and I am here for you 💗 As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day this week please keep in mind all of those who have lost children (at any stage of life) and those who have been unable to conceive or carry a child. Mother’s Day is an extremely difficult day for all of us filled with much heart break and emotional pain. Please be sensitive and thoughtful in your Mother’s Day posts. And realize that there are others out there who may not have been as fortunate as you are in the mom department. After having 5 miscarriages, even seeing the endless social media posts during these several weeks of quarantine of parents doing daily crafts, activities, cuddling, and spending extra quality time with their children has been so very emotional and difficult for me to see. I am not angry or resentful of the parents or of these posts, but seeing them reminds me how sad and heartbroken for myself. That after all of these years, doctors, treatments, procedures, surgeries, and endless testing- still nothing worked. We could have been home spending this extra time with a 5 year old, 3 year old and/or 2 year old. Teaching them things and bonding with each other making memories. And missing out on that makes me so sad. Almost every single day since Jan 2015, I have been just as sad if not sadder than in this photo on the right. Everyday is a struggle (whether I hide that pain in front of you or not) and my career choices and life choices have been influenced by that. Losing children has changed me. I am not the same. And I will never be the same. Thank you to everyone who has provided us with kindness, comfort, and emotional support over the years. Thank you to those who have reached out with people we could talk to. We appreciate you all and you have not gone unnoticed. [Please do not post about adoption or surrogacy on this post, unless you have personally experienced either in some way. Know that we have discussed both of these.]
